This policy explains what information the CGCMate app ("the app") handles and what choices you have. CGCMate is made by Arnsor ("we", "us"). We have tried to keep it plain and short. For our website, see the Arnsor privacy policy.
CGCMate is an unofficial app. It is not made by, or affiliated with, Chandigarh Group of Colleges or the institution that runs the student portal.
1. The short version
- CGCMate connects from your phone directly to the student portal. We do not run a server that receives or stores your portal password, attendance or profile.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can remove the data held on your phone at any time by signing out, clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
- If you contact us or ask for Pro access, we keep only what we need to answer you or switch Pro on.
2. Information the app handles
Portal login details
What: the ID and password you enter to sign in.
Why: to sign you in to the portal on your behalf.
Where it goes: sent from your phone to the portal over an encrypted connection. Not sent to Arnsor. To keep you signed in, the app may keep them in your phone's secure storage until you sign out or remove the app.
Attendance and profile details
What: the attendance and profile details shown by the portal.
Why: to display them in the app.
Where it goes: read on your phone and shown on your screen. Not sent to Arnsor. They may be kept on your phone so the app opens quickly.
Advertising data
What: advertising data, when a rewarded ad is shown.
Why: to show an optional rewarded ad.
Where it goes: collected by Google AdMob (see section 3).
Pro access details
What: the email or ID you give us when you ask for Pro.
Why: to switch Pro on for you and end it when your period finishes.
Where it goes: stored by us for as long as your Pro access needs it.
3. Advertising
The free version of CGCMate can show rewarded ads, which you choose to watch in exchange for a benefit. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address and how you interact with ads, in line with Google's Privacy Policy. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your Android settings.
4. Pro and payments
Pro is available for a fixed period, such as one or two months. If you pay through Google Play, Google processes the payment and we do not receive your card or bank details. If we activate Pro for you manually, we only keep what is needed to do that, for example the email or ID you sent us, and the start and end dates.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell your portal data or your personal information.
- We do not read your portal password on any Arnsor server.
- We do not use your portal data for advertising.
6. Permissions
The app uses the internet to reach the portal and to load ads. It does not need your contacts, camera, microphone or location.
7. Who we share data with
- Google, for Google Play (distribution and payments) and Google AdMob (rewarded ads).
- Our hosting and email providers, for the Pro records and messages you send us.
- Authorities, if the law requires us to.
8. How long we keep data
- On your phone: until you sign out, clear the app's data or uninstall it.
- Messages you send us: for as long as needed to deal with your request, and then for a reasonable time afterwards in case you write again.
- Pro access records: while your Pro period is active, and for a short time afterwards for support and accounting.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. To delete data, use our delete your data page. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict some uses of your data, or to complain to your local data protection authority. We will reply to requests within 30 days.
10. Security
Connections between the app, the portal and our website use HTTPS. We limit access to the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password for any account you have and never share it.
11. Children
CGCMate is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also tell app users inside the app.
